Hi,

I am Shauntel Angelica, a creative director, photographer & filmmaker.

I am a 25 year old portrait & lifestyle photographer and an independent minimalist filmmaker from Jamaica, currently based in Lisbon, Portugal. I pursued a BSc in Anthropology at the University of the West Indies, Jamaica. Then made the big move to Southern Europe, and furthered my interest in the creative arts by enrolling in a Masters program in Cinematographic Studies. This educational immersion in the the film world has opened my eyes to the importance of anthropology in film. I aim to bring an anthropological sensibility to the visual by tactically drawing on human experiences and identity, to capture emotively accurate visual media. My company Shauntel Media House is founded upon just that: pairing anthropological research with photography and film. Aesthetically my work is a meeting ground for all my inspirations: the Bible ( a huge part of my Christian faith), despondent emotions and the look and feel of 35mm film photography.

Best Wishes,

"The Sacrifice" - Director

This is a period piece scene that is a proof of concept of a feature film set in 1AD in Pembrokeshire, that explores the sacrificial culture the Celtic community embraced during this time . This scene, explores one man's sacrificial experience, in a visually calming way that juxtaposes the perceived barbarity of these normalised actions.

Inspirations: Lav Diaz, Andrei Tarkovsky
